How to Send a care package
Step One

Find out who you’re sending a package to, especially if it’s to a senior citizen, and ask what they need. Everyone’s needs will be different, so finding out what would and wouldn’t be helpful is fundamental in sending them a care package.
Step Two
With an adult’s help, get the things your recipient needs. Staying in line with quarantine protocols, many stores, including Walmart, are offering delivery and pickup options to keep the spread of the virus minimum. Again, with an adult’s help and wisdom, use these options to assemble your care package. Alternatively, if you can find things around your house that would work, all the better!
Step Three

The next step is disinfecting. Before you send anything to anyone, make sure every surface is disinfected. According to the CDC, you can use “diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol, and most common EPA-registered household disinfectants should be effective.” Once these surfaces have been disinfected, use disposable gloves to handle them until their delivery. Look here for more information on disinfecting.
Step Four
The final step is delivering your care package! As of now, current delivery services such as UPS and FedEx are still functioning but with increasing dedication to hygiene. In general, the risk of spreading the virus through mail or packages is low.
If you don’t know how to ship packages, here’s the UPS webpage that gives the proper instructions:
